Denaby Ings Nature Reserve, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire

DENABY INGS NATURE RESERVE

This nature reserve is alongside the River Dearne and was created largely by mining subsidence at the start of the 20th century.

Did You Know...

Did you know that Denaby Ings is where a new type of beetle was discovered - the beetle Acrotrichis henrici Was found here in 1966 and was quickly added to the British list of species.

AWARDS

Denaby Ings was been awarded a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) status in 1977 after the tachnid fly Rhacochlaena toxoneura was discovered - the first time ever north of Cambridge.
