The Guild Hall, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire

THE GUILD HALL

This is where The Guild Hall used to be, with it's imposing stone columns in the entrance to Marks and Spencer's now. It was built in 1847 and opened in 1848 for meetings of the town council and the county court, with a rear session hall added in 1881 with 24 new cells.

After the new Police HQ and Courts were built in 1968, the old Guild Hall was demolished. The remnants dumped unceremoniously on Sandy Lane tip.

Did You Know...

Did you know that you can spy a picture of the old Guild Hall in sculpted form above the main entrance to the Corn Exchange?
