Mansion House, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire

MANSION HOUSE

Doncaster’s elegant Mansion House, a focus for civic pride, has dominated the High Street for over two hundred and fifty years. It is one of only four surviving civic Mansion Houses in the country.

It was started in 1744 to designs by James Paine and took 4 years to complete. William Lindley added more in 1801-6 including the attic and banqueting hall where the St Leger dinner still takes place.

Did you know that The Mansion House features some Municipal treasure including the Mace and Mayoral Chain, Corporate Plate an Regalia, paintings of King George II and Queen Victoria.

OPENING TIMES

The Mansion House is open to all visitors once a year when the civic mayor holds an open day in the summer and there are special events, including a carol concert, held during the year.
