Doncaster Features: Bizarre Doncaster: Shotgun Wart Removal

SEAN Murphy, 38, of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, tried to remove a wart on his middle finger with a 12-bore Beretta shotgun. He succeeded. He also lost most of the finger.

Such was Mr Murphy's state of mind that he fired the gun at Markham Grange Nurseries, a garden centre in Brodsworth, where he worked as a security guard. The gun he used was stolen.

Police are called. For using an illegal firearm, Murphy has secured himself a 16-week suspended prison sentence, 100 hours of unpaid community work and pay costs of £100.

At Doncaster Magistrates’ Court, he tells the Yorkshire Post:

"The best thing is that the wart has gone. It was giving me lot of trouble. It was hurting a lot and causing my finger to bend. I’d been to the doctors and tried all sorts of things but it wouldn’t go. I didn’t expect to lose my finger as well when I shot it but the gun recoiled and that was it. The wart was gone and so was most of my finger. There was nothing left, so no chance to re-attach it."
